how would you vote? I have one office where the choice was Rethug and Independent and I will pick Independent. I have one other office where the choice is Rethug and Libertarian. Neither are appealing. What would you do in that case. I can't make up my mind.

(938 posts)in the one judge race like this on my ballot. Guess I'm in more of an anti-R place right now. They need to be razed to the ground.

(6,907 posts)In the state I used to live in, the rival university's board of trustees was selected by statewide vote. I voted for a libertarian, in the hope that he would turn down tax money and the school would shut down. I did it so I could say that I have voted for someone other than a Democrat in my lifetime. It will be the last.

(1,406 posts)Has Putin's 3rd Party wet dream of permanently eliminating the Democratic Party already happened in this scenario?
Tell ya what. If the Dem Party disappears there will be no further voting for anyone. EVER AGAIN
THERE WILL BE NO DEMOCRACY.

(10,274 posts)As they will be easier to remove from office next time (no national party apparatus to support them).
And SOMEONE WILL challenge them; if he's a registered libertarian and running as such, he's probably batshit crazy enough that he WILL make a complete scene of himself over the course of the next 24 months right?

(1,483 posts)I agree with the person upthread that says it is strategic to vote for the Libertarian.
Since they will probably be happy to just spend time in office smoking pot with prostitutes and cleaning their guns, they may be less damaging in the short run anyway.

(657 posts)Republican. The Libertarians I know are actually worse than the Republicans I know when it comes to being selfish, self-centered, un-compassionate and judgmental.
I'd be wary of voting for an Independent unless they already had a record to go on.

(1,406 posts)John Birch Society being dismantled for being such a horrific anti govt hate group of the early 60's.
Libertarian was one of a few fringe groups they formed to re-enter US politics under the same anti govt rhetoric, only a little less pronounced as the Birchers.
Kochs are quite efficient at funding fringe spoiler groups that relentlessly damn democracy.
They have put billions into the 2015/16 race and to build 2018 midterm spoilers as they head to 2020 & building momentum for their goal of eliminating the Democratic Party.
That is who THEY are.
