Dave Mustaine -- the lead singer of Megadeth -- believes Barack Obama "staged" the massacre in Aurora, CO in a sick, twisted plot to pass a gun ban.
Mustaine made the comments on stage at an August 7 performance in Singapore ... when he told the crowd, "Back in my country, my president ... he's trying to pass a gun ban, so he's staging all of these murders, like the 'Fast And Furious' thing down at the border ... Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there ... and now the beautiful people at the Sikh temple."

(13,985 posts)He's a born again fundie, who years ago refused to play with certain bands on the same stage because they were quote on quote " satanic " he's a joke and I'm ashamed I used to like megadeth at one point of my life.

(100,099 posts)They were playing a show there a few years back and some fan throws a joint on stage. Dave literally stops the show, screams into the microphone "what the fuck is this shit????", destroys the joint, and waits for security to come and kick the fan out of the venue. There's a reason this douchebag got kicked out of Metallica.

(13,985 posts)Back in 2005 Megadeth and Dissection were on tour in Israel, and he told the promoters that he won't go on stage if Dissection is to play. So they told Dissection to pack up and leave just because of Munstaine. He's a complete tard.

(813 posts)I remember reading in Kerrang! magazine back in the '80s about a Megadeth gig in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Mustaine went on and on about how he has "Irish blood" and started in with how he supported "the Cause" and "give Ireland back to the Irish."
There were a load of letters to the magazine about that. One stated "there were both Catholics and Protestants at the gig...a rock show is one of the few places we can put that aside...he almost started a fucking riot."
Dave, you too often let your BB arse load your .45 calibre mouth.

(813 posts)...since I am matrilineally descended from Theobald Fitzwalter, 1st Baron Butler, founder of the Butler Dynasty of Ireland, who was descended from the Normans who invaded Ireland in 1169! I doubt the average Irish (Republic or Ulster) would welcome me with open arms upon learning that!
At least I wouldn't walk around in Dublin or Belfast trumpeting that...unlike Mustaine, I know (usually) when it's best to keep my yap shut.

(65 posts)I used to LOVE Megadeth back in the early 90s. Hated Metallica but loved Megadeth. Thought Mustaine had a great voice too. Now he's doing all this Ted Nugent, Charlie Daniels shit... What a waste.

(13,985 posts)Have names like that, or sing about death and destruction, but its really nothing more then music / art. Just like a horror movie, or a gore painting. Religion should never have a place in music. In his case however, he turned into a religious fundamentalist, and that's really fuct up.

(813 posts)When I was in high school in the '80s, the "Satanic Panic" was in full swing.
Slayer rode the Satanic gravy train for their first few albums, but I am guessing they frankly got bored with it. How many times can you repeat that without getting bored?
Kerry King once said "I read The Satanic Bible once, but it was all bullshit."
The only ones I can personally think of who are/were avowed Satanists are King Diamond (Mercyful Fate) and Glen Benton (Deicide). KD has even moved away from that a bit and describes himself more of an agnostic these days. Benton, though, is still waist-deep in Satanic swillage.
Man, I got so tired of that back when I was a kid. A girlfriend of mine's parents forbade her to see me because they said I was a Satanist...just because I had long hair and listened to bands like Rush, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, etc. Finally my dad said "if they don't knock that shit off I'm going to have them in court for slander!"

(24,461 posts)IMHO, Megadeth has really only made one good album. The majority of his work beyond the first two has been slightly above average at best and (mostly) goddamned awful at worst. So Far, So Good, So What has to be one of the worst follow up metal albums to a master work ever shat out.

(22,143 posts)First four Megadeth albums are some of the best Metal ever written. But he traded in the needle for the cross and his intelligence for insanity. It's sad really.
darkangel218
(13,985 posts)But 2 of the Slayer members are now born again RW nuts. And they're not alone, sadly a lot of the bands I grew up with are now fundies. Pretty sad.
MrSlayer
(22,143 posts)No one in Slayer is a born again or a right wing nut. Tom Araya has always been a Christian but is no way a fundie or a born again. Kerry and Jeff are atheists and apolitical. In fact their songwriting was quite anti-Bush on Christ Illusion. And Dave has never mentioned his religion at all.
I don't know where you're getting this from but it's bullshit.

(813 posts)Of course they rode the "Satanic" wave when they first started; almost everyone was doing it then to try and outdo one another. The only ones back then who were really serious about it that I know of were King Diamond/Mercyful Fate, and even he's more of an agnostic these days.
Tom Araya is a Roman Catholic, as is Dave Lombardo. Araya is Chilean, Lombardo Cuban, so that isn't surprising given that the Roman Catholic Church is dominant in that part of the world.
Kerry King is an atheist and I've never heard Jeff Hannemann say one way or the other.

(813 posts)I have an old guitar magazine from the early '90s, just before the '92 election where he was railing against "the right-wing conservatives who rule this country" and how he was voting for Ross Perot, because "he's the only one who understands what this country needs."
I don't get it how an explanation is that once he became a Christian he became a right-wing zealot. I am a practicing Lutheran and find GOP dogma antithetical to the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, not to mention Moses and the Jewish Prophets who taught about justice for the poor and downtrodden.
Dave, I think you're having flashbacks that make you talk BS like this.
I loved Megadeth's Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? album way back in the day. He's still a good guitar player but please don't do the Nugent shtick...I know all about that because I live in Michigan and got rid of my Ted discs (which I once liked a lot) because I just can't listen to the guy any more without hearing the goofy BS he spouts.
