(5,420 posts)Maybe if you just compare him to the rest of the repiglicans, yes. But not compared to the populace as a whole and def. not gay, good looks.
Crap, I finally took the plunge and looked and now I'm pissed. Upper body only with a shirt on. Don't tell me to look and judge him in a workout outfit and show me a sweaty tshirt to judge. He's got nice arms. Thats it. All I see is the pig sweat on the repiglican.

(3,596 posts)I applaud Ryan for keeping fit. If he would use his position as a Congressman and his interest in fitness to go out an campaign on the need for Americans to get and stay fit to be healthier and in the end reduce their need for healthcare and prolong their lives, he might have something to add to the public dialogue.
But he has nothing to worry about. He will have a huge pension and a lifelong "Cadillac" healthcare plan (probably exempt from the taxation on Cadillac plans in the ACA).

He's just not an attractive man. The eyes are pretty, but they're still set in the face of Paul Ryan.

(9,893 posts)He'd look better with either brown eyes or a little tan.
I understand that a large part of the fitness thing is because his father and one other close male relative died of heart attacks in their '50s.
The death of his father when he was in his early teens obviously was a life-changing experience for him.
He has three little kids, including a boy, so I don't blame him for his efforts to keep in shape in order to avoid a heart attack.
He may be in it for himself now, but I can't blame him for trying to stay alive for his kids.

(25,415 posts)Now that is impressive, he is in incredible shape for his fifties. Paul Ryan...meh. My husband does P90X too. It is not proof that he is anything special. Heck, even I do the Plyo work out now and then. And Dreya Weber would kick Paul Ryan's snivelly butt in a second (she is the blond woman on P90X).

This country would be nowhere if all we had were "men" who spin cycled, lifted weights etc. They are not and never have been the builders of bridges, pavers of roads, brick layers, carpenters.

(19,458 posts)I'm one of those women that is turned off by any guy over 25, that is not an athlete or personal trainer, that is so into his body.. and can recite his body fat (he's not an athlete, but his body fat is in that range.)
His internal ugliness ruins anything for me... I think he's gross. I think that he should probably spend more time with his kids, considering he's gone all the time for work, and less time looking in the mirror and measuring his body fat.

How about Obama's economic advisor a professor with a PhD in Economics?
And a person with integrity! Now that's hot.

(1,370 posts)Both of them. I didn't find AW's body attractive at all, and any mild appeal Ryan could hold would be automatically undone by everything from the neck up. Biggest difference between them is AW's bout of selfish stupidity appears to have been temporary whilst Ryan's is undoubtedly terminal.

It's ironic I'm looking at this thread while listening to "Right Wing World" on The Stephanie Miller Show. The topic: Wingnut commentators swooning over Paul Ryan's physique. These are the same hypocritical assholes who have been mocking Michelle Obama and her equally buff arms, as well as her "Get Fit" campaign for the past three and a half years. Screw 'em.

(34,825 posts)don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with keeping yourself in shape. i do minor workouts because it helps me on my bike rides. but if you're spending 20 hours a week working out just for the hard body, you've got some issues.
