Peter Strzok, a decorated FBI Agent who dedicated his life and his career to FBI service and who for years was the Head of the Counter Intelligence Division of the FBI who has caught many and some of the most devious Russian spies in our country, PRIVATELY expressed his opinion about the election: FIRED FROM HIS POST.Matthew Whitaker, a hyper partisan whose media firm was sued by the FCC for fraud and whose political organization (FACT) was a contributing architect of the email scandal of Hillary Clinton as well as a feeder of talking points to RW Media, who has many times publicly echoed Trump's words "No Collusion" and how to dismantle the Mueller Investigation in a way to get around obstruction of justice is ILLEGALLY PROMOTED to Acting Attorney General overseeing said Investigation. (for more info see this wiki )
Does Trump even know what Mueller already has on him? Because based on the above, I don't think he has a fucking clue.

(11,752 posts)In Trump's mind, Trump is brilliant and everyone else is stupid. He has tried to convince himself of this that he almost believes it. He is desperate to avoid appearing weak so he will do whatever he thinks will prevent it.
I think that he bit off way more than he could chew in becoming president. He was able to get away with a lot given his minor status in New York real estate and the backing of mobsters. As long as someone was getting money, people were okay. He is now expected to perform for the citizens of the US, but he isn't smart enough or capable enough but he is so locked into his cycle of trauma and need to be seen as strong, that he doesn't know anything else to do.
It will be an epic crash and burn. The only thing that is keeping him afloat is that in the US we do not like to see powerful people and our institutions suffer the indignity of common justice.

(14,496 posts)I like to boil it down to the basics: Trump was elected to be a public servant. Neither he or anyone in his cabinet or staff has any concept of what that means.
Serving others would be completely like anti-matter to his personality.......

(81,527 posts)That's exactly what these people are: self-anointed "aristocrats." Do they even GET how - when you run for public office, you are running to become a PUBLIC SERVANT???

(11,752 posts)He has never had to be of service to anyone in his life. He appears to lack the ability to empathize with or even bond to any other person. Everything is utilitarian to him.

(9,291 posts)I wonder why his family couldn't rein him in. He had a good con running and he could live the rest of his life being a carnival barker.
The only thing I can think of, is he's broke. His biggest fear.
Caliman73
(11,752 posts)A combination of factors including his ego (he could not take being called out by President Obama) and his money situation. It looks like he may have been put up to running by figures in the Russian oligarchy and government who know that he would never make good on the loans they gave him so they needed some other way of compensation.
I don't think that he really thought he was going to win.

(14,496 posts)is that everyday people are getting at least a peek into the dark underbelly of corrupt wealthy segments of our world and their complex hidden relationships - in part thanks to Trump taking public office. The tangled webs of oligarchs, bad banks, hidden overseas funds, secret deals and colluding corrupt public officials is mind-boggling. It's no wonder the average worker can no longer get ahead.
I believe if one were to completely document just the corrupt wheeling and dealing history of Trump's family (including Fred), it would fill a small library.
Let's all hope we learn a lot from this and use that knowledge to build a better future.......

(81,527 posts)I'll say one thing for him - he does inspire creativity. Some of the signs I saw last night at the local #NobodyIsAboveTheLaw rally certainly prove that. Since it was going to be after dark, several people created big signs framed with battery-powered lights! Little lights in ALL colors, including white. Must be a metaphor in there somewhere...
