I used to spends a lot of time between Malibu and Santa Monica. Did some horseback riding in the hills, and went to some parties. The beauty and peaceful atmosphere is such a vivid memory.

This is so absolutely heartbreaking.

Today my home is enveloped in thick smoke--which is actually a good thing, because it means the strong Santa Ana winds that have been driving the fires (and keeping the skies blue in the near-by SFV clear) have died down.

Unfortunately, I'm feeling quite ill from the smoke (I'm very sensitive to it) but I hope the winds dying gown gives firefighters a chance to contain the fires before the winds resume.

So many homes destroyed. So many people displaced. And beautiful wilderness burned.

He called them yesterday to tell them that both the wedding venue and reception venue were destroyed in the fire.

...that area has long been prone to wildfires. This series seems to be one of the worst.

Right now, the Camp Fire in Northern California is both larger and more deadly - 100,000 acres - 9 deaths - 5,636 structures destroyed.
