(26,263 posts)I used to spends a lot of time between Malibu and Santa Monica. Did some horseback riding in the hills, and went to some parties. The beauty and peaceful atmosphere is such a vivid memory.
This is so absolutely heartbreaking.

(359 posts)Today my home is enveloped in thick smoke--which is actually a good thing, because it means the strong Santa Ana winds that have been driving the fires (and keeping the skies blue in the near-by SFV clear) have died down.
Unfortunately, I'm feeling quite ill from the smoke (I'm very sensitive to it) but I hope the winds dying gown gives firefighters a chance to contain the fires before the winds resume.
So many homes destroyed. So many people displaced. And beautiful wilderness burned.
