who was a Huntington victim/carrier?

i.e.,, where the hell did that come from?

BTW, symptoms start in 30s-50. He ought to be advanced (or dead) if that was the case.

Here's a link to the Wikipedia entry about Huntington's Disease:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huntington%27s_disease

Here's the relevant description:

Huntington's disease... is an inherited disorder that results in death of brain cells. The earliest symptoms are often subtle problems with mood or mental abilities. A general lack of coordination and an unsteady gait often follow. As the disease advances, uncoordinated, jerky body movements become more apparent. Physical abilities gradually worsen until coordinated movement becomes difficult and the person is unable to talk. Mental abilities generally decline into dementia.

Sound familiar?

The mild symptoms start in 30s-50 and become more pronounced overe 15-20 years until death. He is now in his 70s when in all likelihood he would be dead from it. He surely would not be manifesting MILD symptoms only.

Please STOP this ridiculous armchair diagnosis. Those of us with advanced medical knowledge know better than to do so for any but the most obvious diseases/syndromes. To grab on a rare inherited disease like Huntington's is ridiculous and only shows yourself to be seriously uninformed.

I've respected your posts for years, hithe2b, so I'll back off a bit.

When I read the OP then did a bit of reading from several sources since I was unaware of Huntington's.

However, Trump's father suffered from Alzheimers Disease. Isn't that hereditary?

Regardless, could you please explain why the OP is off-base.

Thank you, in advance.

Nov 2018

though there appears to be an inherited factor that increases risk--much like colon cancer, for instance, given the right "environmental" factors.

If you wanted to play the odds, Parkinson's would be a far more likely explanation or the impact of certain medications, including past or current heavy amphetamine abuse.

Sat Nov 10, 2018, 08:57 PM

his seeming confusion on many occasions, etc. have been commented on and neurologists have speculated.
The slurring, for instance could result from anything from a dry mouth, medication issue, to a displaced denture to an acute stroke (or mini strokes, including TIAs, otherwise known as transient ischemic attacks). His periodic confusion, lack of hand control and seeming worsening of mental acuity late afternoon and into the evening can be consistent with Parkinson's, "sundowning" effect of Alzheimers, and many other conditions.

One need only watch past video of trump from as little as 5-10 years ago to see a loss of verbal acuity and linguistic sophistication. Both might well signal some form of oncoming dementia, whether Alzheimer's or another form.

His last doctor's "testing" for signs of dementia was a ridiculous joke--quite meaningless and a total abuse of what and how those screening tests are meant to be peformed.

I'm not saying there is not something (potentially neurological) going on with him. Just to latch onto the rare hereditary disease, Huntington's makes no sense at all, given an absolute lack of family history and his own manifestation and age.

As a layman-- and a regular New York City guy-- for nearly 40 years, Trump has always struck me as someone who has some loose screws.

Plus, he's an asshole. And it seems to be getting worse.

As a musician, I don't have the professional perspective to identify his issues. Nonetheless, I'm educated enough to know that there is something obviously wrong with this man!

The way he's gone after the AA women reporters and Michelle Obama. Actually he pivoted away from directly attacking Michelle by viciously lying that Pres Obama weakened our military by under funding it (a lie as O funded it better in his first two years than trump has).

But you could see him consciously making the decision not to attack Michelle as he knew that was off limits when he went after Pres. O.

Maybe his cognitive function is a sundowning event as he seemingly is able to turn on the nastiness when he wants in early part of the day when he confronts the press. But then that doesn't explain his attacks against the Dems and the press at his evening rallies.
