D-III College Basketball Player Viciously Elbows Opponent

Note how he looks at the ref to confirm that he's looking the other way before the elbow. This kid has already been suspended and barred from campus, but I'm not sure how he avoids criminal charges. This goes way beyond the normal physicality of basketball.

I'm wondering if he got the go ahead from the coach to do it. And if he did... would the other players have done it too?

Or was that going to be his last game anyway?
