My cousin lives near C.R. Iowa~belongs to a very conservative Baptist Church. Sunday the message

was that Women were to be the "help meet" of their husbands.

Basically they were not to hold positions of power ect ect

its okay for them to be pianist, Sunday School teachers, good pastor's wives and various other positions.
She related to me that the unsaid message was clear. No woman should ever be president.

Her church is so strange. She is hosting a foreign exchange student from Thailand and they go to Temple with her and she goes to Church with them. One of the "leaders of her Church" saw her going to Temple and they got a home visit telling them that they should not go to Temple.

I told her that I would be finding a different church!

We are also Baptists, but from the very conservative Baptist Sect, our Church would be "of the devil" Our message on Jan 1 was how to make the most of our relationship with God and be prosperous in our lives through that relationship.

that I could probably guess which one (based on some overtly political messages on their sign/marquee), but there probably are several in town that fit the bill!

the only time I have ever heard my paster be political is when he mentioned he loved to study Lincoln and was devestated when Kennedy was shot (he is from Texas)

One other time, he mentioned that he thought there were great men of God on both sides of the isles.

positions....Debroah, who was the greatest Judge Israell had, Rahab, who helped the Isaelites conquer Jericho and the fact that Jesus only had ONE human parent...MARY A WOMAN. If women were so cursed, how does they explain that? Jesus' line back to David went through HIS MOTHER.

Women can't be pastors, song leaders, ushers, elders or even prayer leaders

They are good for preacher's wives, Sunday School teachers, pianists, choir members cooks and social directors but NEVER anything more than that.

the choir leaders are either women or GAY men! In Holiness Churches, (Usually COGIC), women occupy many key positions and that is a VERY CONSERVATIVE CHURCH, trust me.

I heard a talking head say this yesterday and she was promptly shut down! She said (paraphrasing) that "the Evangelicals turned on Bachmann because they believe a woman's place is in the home and would never vote for a female President".
