(18,837 posts)I dunno...Carville may still be a major player on the "big stage," but not for me.
I think part of the problem is that he probably bases his predictions on what has happened in the past, and this is all brand new. There's never been a Trump in the Oval Office, and the groundswell of resistance to him has never existed, either. Charts and graphs are great. Their value was extremely limited this time around.

(6,232 posts)Other folks said it wasn't a wave. Sorry I just don't get how folks dump on him, because he was wrong. We don't do purity and never have.

(35,619 posts)In MN, Republicans flipped two seats and Democrats flipped two seats for a net gain of zero.
If we flipped 40 seats nationally then that is 38 or less net.
Did any Democratic US House seats outside of MN go Republican?

(35,619 posts)If there were 3 US House seats flipped from BlueToRed that means we netted 37.

(6,121 posts)The third one might have been in PA where the redistricting mixed things around. So that was more like a retention but with a different district number.
Not sure about the count now.

(82,849 posts)Pelosi just has to go. 40 seats flipped? Why should congressional Democrats reward the caucus leader for that?
The above hot take coming soon from a nincompoop posting to a website near you.

(2,771 posts)Now I rarely hear how hard overcoming the Republican gerrymanders would be. Yet, since 2010, the obstacle gerrymandering presents has been used to explain all the votes in which more voters vote for Democrats, but more Republicans are elected.
Our win last week was massive. Americas repudiation of Trump was massive. The hard work of phone banking, canvassing, writing postcards and texts paid off. Democrats deserve to be celebrated.
Im so glad voting rights and elections are the first things we will tackle come January. Thats spot on.
