Global warming deniers would rather blame God for extreme drought

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/be23cd60-e6d5-11e1-af33-00144feab49a.html#ixzz23jSXWcc9

Extreme weather has visited Kevin Mainord’s farm business twice in the past two years. In 2011 a wall of water deluged his corn and soyabean fields after US authorities blasted a levee to relieve flooding on the Mississippi river. This year brought drought and weeks of devastating heat.

Scientists have long warned of more frequent floods and droughts as the world’s climate changes. But for Mr Mainord and many like him, global warming is bogus. “It’s more God and nature’s dictates, rather than a man-made event,” the Missouri farmer said this week as he harvested a corn crop one-quarter of its normal size.

Climate scepticism among farmers helps explain why carbon emissions are off the US legislative agenda despite the hottest temperatures on record.

Drought has gripped the broadest area of the US corn belt since previous severe dry spells in the 1980s and the 1930s, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said on Wednesday.

Yup, it's all God's fault.

Wow, that's actually a shock. Usually, they blame gay people and say it's God's wraith for America turning into such a sinful country by not beating the gays into submission. I'm actually surprised.

It might not be mentioned in this article, but I wouldn't be surprised if they think that's the reason God is punishing them. It's always the gays. If only America would just "clean up its act", "return to God", blah blah blah, then we would once again become the most prosperous nation in the world. It's all because of the gays, Hollywood, porn, drugs, booze, etc.

They blame gay people or abortion for causing God's wrath. I actually heard this in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. As a Christian, I thought that if they should think God's wrath is at work at all, it is for destroying the environment out of greed. To me, that would be a sin that the punishment would fit just like the death of King David's son after his adultery and killing of his mistress's husband. For some reason, this never occurs to these Conservative Christians.

is astounding. They never stop and think about how the opposite of what they are saying is actually happening. We are supposed to be stewards of the planet, not destroyers of it. You are absolutely right.

There would be an awful lot less of these holier-than-thous telling us who God hates.
