We have no 'voter ID' in Canada but a photo ID is required to vote. Fortunately we have proper health insurance for everyone which includes a photo ID so that is taken care of. Your country should think of something like that. It's amazing how well it works. 😎

(1,336 posts)We tend to put the "u" (or You) in everything we can! Like healthcare, for instance -- "You" all would be covered

(5,803 posts)Thom Hartmann said on his show a couple weeks ago that he thinks one reason pukes (except he didn't call them that, because he's a gentleman) are so dead-set against a Canadian-style healthcare system in the US is that everyone would have an ID that could then be used for voting. pukes would have no reason to use lack of ID as an excuse for stealing someone's ability to vote.
He specifically referenced Canada and the fact that everyone there gets an ID for healthcare.

(69 posts)AFAIK, a health insurance card (at least in Alberta) cannot be used for voting ID purposes. One needs ID with a photo and current address (such as a driver's license). My health card has neither. All it has is a "Personal Health Number", DOB, gender and name.
