Former US Servicemen Dishonor the US Navy SEALS and the President

Last edited Fri Aug 17, 2012, 06:58 AM - Edit history (2)

A small group of former special operations and intelligence members with ties to Tea Partied Republicans are dishonoring the US Navy SEAL’s integrity and life-long oath of allegiance to their Commander-in-Chief with a vicious video attacking the President’s representation of the Bin Laden raid. The video, deliberately, “skews the facts particularly when splicing together pieces of the president discussing his role in the operation." (FactCheck.org.)

This small group of former Navy SEALS and their Tea Partied Republican operatives edited the video to make it look like the President took all of the credit for the Osama raid. It is an indisputable fact that the President deserves credit for issuing the orders for the Bin Laden raid. It was a militarily and politically risky decision that could have, easily, jeopardized his legacy as President. However, the former Navy SEAL’s video deliberately failed to highlight the President’s statements crediting the military with special emphasis on the Navy SEALS, the national intelligence agency, counter-terrorism specialists and “the greatness of our country and the American people” (youtube.com video of the President Bin Laden announcement)

The good news is that this small group of former servicemen do not represent all US Navy Seals and other dedicated US military service men and women who served or are serving our nation.

The sad news is that they care more about attacking their Commander-in-Chief than defending their fellow military service men and women who are being denied the right to vote by the elected “friends” of the very same Tea Partied Republican operatives who bankrolled their video!

During a rare public interview on Wednesday, Adm. Bill McRaven, head of the U.S. Special Operations command, portrayed as bold and brave Obama's decision to order the raid despite significant doubts about whether bin Laden was at the Abbottabad, Pakistan compound.

"At the end of the day, make no mistake about it, it was the president of the United States that shouldered the burden of this operation, that made the hard decision," McRaven said during an on-stage interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer that served as the kickoff session of the Aspen Security Forum.

"The president of the United States is fantastic," the admiral said. "I'm not a political guy. I've worked in both [administrations,] very much enjoyed working with President Bush and I very much enjoy working for President Obama. This isn't about politics. This is about a Commander in Chief who I have the opportunity to engage with on a routine basis."

Bring it on! If Obama didn't give the order to take out Bin Laden he would still be alive.
Tell them to go Cheney themselves.

No...

Then they have a right to their free speech and their opinions.

They are dishonoring nobody, and I will defend their right to say this crap, which it is...

When the Right plays this game it is stupid, and when the left does it, it is stupid.

Sorry.

End rant.

Like the op did, it is wrong...they are dishonoring nobody.

When people on this thread say they are traitors, no they are not.

What they are is factually wrong, and the campaign is handling them just dandy, unlike the Kerry campaign with the swift boaters.

But let's make this clear, they are dishonoring nobody and they are no traitors.

Peope really need to pick up a dictionary and understand, once a person leaves the armed forces, they are no longer bound to the UCMJ. They can spout views and opinions like the rest of us. I will defend their right, even if I know they are dead wrong.

...for politicizing the Navy SEALs. This craven ploy by the GOP (Rove?) sullies the reputation of this highly esteemed military organization by dragging them down in the mud of politics.

Maybe I'm off base, but I would think most American citizens would resent their national heroes being politicized in this way and would most likely direct their resentment to the source: the GOP.

And any American citizen with half a brain would question that if --as their ad says -- "Obama didn't kill bin Laden; America killed bin Laden and the military killed bin Laden," then why the hell didn't America and the military get the job done during Dubya's time in office?

.... just sticks in the craw of idiot Republicans and of course especially BushBots.

Guess what fools, your man couldn't or wouldn't get the job done, Obama did. You can spin until you are blue but there are some FACTS you just cannot refute.

And guess what useful idiots - more and more Americans are waking up to the equally obvious FACT that Republican deregulate/lowerTaxesOnTheRich/"Free"Trade blah blah blah has been a SPECTACULAR FAILURE and your day in the sun is about over.
