Ryan To Talk Medicare In Florida’s Largest Retirement Community

and he's using is mother for cover. This is tricky thing for the Obama/Biden campaign not to get a pissing match. What should Obama do beside keep telling truth?

http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/ryan-to-talk-medicare-in-floridas-largest-retirement

Paul Ryan will campaign in Florida's largest retirement community on Saturday with his 80-year-old mother at his side, ABC News reports. Ryan did not accompany Mitt Romney to Florida during his bus tour, fueling speculation that Ryan was actually a liability to the campaign in the state with a large population of seniors because of his Medicare plan.

Ryan will speak about Medicare in The Villages, the largest retirement community in the world. Ryan's mother spends part of the year in a Florida retirement community called Lauderdale-By-The Sea and the rest of the year in Wisconsin.

As ABC reports, The Villages is a conservative community and already a top fundraising spot for Romney and his allies..

You'll notice he's not talking to all seniors just conservative ones. I wonder if they'll believe his bull shit.

My last visit to Florida my friend's brother's girlfriend (from a gated NJ community moving to a gated Florida community) turned around to me and said she wished Obama would show his birth certificate...This was in March this year.

I was awestruck...and said he did...and she said it was fake....

This is when I thought...no more Florida visits for me. I am spending my vacation money in Europe.

There is a real mean streak down in Florida... A meanness for those who don't have money.

I felt so sickened and could not wait to come back home.

Unless you visit the place and listen to the conversations, you won't believe that this place is in the U.S.
Anti Obama is taken for granted.
Golf carts and limbaugh.
It's a nice looking place and the housing is reasonable, but, damn, the politics will drive you crazy.

I live there and the politics drive me crazy!! The developer is Morse, and he is one of the 1%ers. He does NOT allow Dems to campaign in The Villages. During the 2008 campaign, Lincoln Chafee, (I know, he's not a Democrat) was supporting Obama and we were going to have a campaign type rally in one of the restaurants in The Villages. Chafee was to be the speaker. Morse told the restaurant owner he wouldn't allow it. Morse owns everything in The Villages but the businesses are privately owned and the owners rent the buildings from Morse. We thought we were going to have to sue but in the end, Morse let us have our rally. It is so sickening to see the parade of repukes that come there to campaign. I can't think of any repuke who hasn't been there, and many more than once. I lost count of the # of times Palin, Cheney, W, Huckabee have been there. Of course the front page of the repuke daily paper is covered with their pictures and the Letters to the Editor are filled with repuke spew. (At least one of my pro Obama letters did make it to print...can't understand how that happened).

A funny thing happened while W was still in office. I wore a Tee shirt to a Pilates class that had W's picture on it and the caption, "Dumber than a box of rocks." It was surprising how many people did come up to me and in a very low voice so not to be overheard, they said, "I like your shirt."

People who live there are from all parts of America, so I don't understand why there are so many repukes and not so many Dems. Oh, it is true as Rachel said, we were removed from the Town SQ when Rmoney came the last time to campaign. Those of us who belong to The Villages Democratic Party wore dark blue shirts with our name on the back of our shirt. We were all told we had to leave. So much for Democracy in The Villages.

“In Central Florida, where The Villages and other retirement communities sprawl across several counties, reported cases of syphilis and chlamydia increased 71 percent among those 55 and older in that same period. And South Florida saw a 60 percent rise in those two sexually transmitted infections among the same age group, according to the Florida Department of Health.” (Orlando Sentinel)

This could backfire for them. Just because you and I would not go after his mother doesn't mean that someone her own age won't.

Sure, they're conservative, but most have 2, 3 or 4 generations out there, who would be drastically affected by a horrible voucher system. The GOP seems to think that if the elderly know their current Medicare coverage isn't going to change (55 and above), they'll rally around ending Medicare for the next generation. I DON'T THINK SO. They grew up enjoying a solid safety net. Why would they NOT want their kids, grandkids, and great grandkids to enjoy the same net?

This will BOMB. Big time.

You got to understand The Villages, they drink the koolaid by the gallon. Campaign couldn't have sent him to an easier audience... they're all already voting GOP, this is preaching to the choir. In fact, it illustrates how unready Ryan is for the spotlight - they don't trust him enough to send him to Miami, Lauderdale, WPB, etc.

Retired does not equal stupid. Then there's the rest of us who have to really shoulder the burden of his budget. Are we supposed to be a national majority of people that stupid, too?

I'd be hiding behind a soft audience, too, if I'd proposed what he did.

The Republicans just may have jumped the shark with this pick.

I also think they're wrong.

They forget Bush only got in in 2000 because of the supreme court.

They forget Americans were still in a state of war shock in 2004.

They may still be able to whip some states into an emotional frenzy, but those methods will not work on a national level.

They've left an extremely bad taste in the mouths of a lot of we, the American, voters. Feeding us more crap is not the way to rectify that problem. Are they honestly that out of touch? Because from where I'm sitting it appears they are.
