For giving him anything for a wall. HE'll be voted out of his position for this and other things he's done, and not soon enough.

2. The federal government is on a Continuing Resolution through to December 7

Schumer's counter to Trump is in line with the original request by the administration ( specifically for border security) https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/publications/DHS%20BIB%202019.pdf for "Border Security" which is 1.6 billion. Last year 1.3 billion was appropriated I believe.

The outrage here it to be directed at TRUMP.

Trump will threaten a government shutdown if Congress won’t give him all that he wants and he will use "caravan invasion" hysteria to ram in as much funding as he can and the Republicans will try to get as much as they can until Democrats control the house in January.

Remember all this is part of a temporary budget agreement, budget negotiations are currently in progress.

The border is 1.3-1.6 billion? If trump used this money to start building a wall then there would be no money for typical costs like border agent salaries?

8. details are in the link..

The confusion is with the use of the word wall I think, when there are parts of the fence that need fixing. Included in the link are details about salaries/agents etc.

Despite the fact that the original budget request for *border security* was 1.6 Graham is making ridiculous political mileage out of it, calling Schumer's recommended appropriation a "non starter"

$1.6 billion in the last bill that was passed THAT HASN'T BEEN USED. Schumer is making a point that border wall funding is a political issue for Trump and nothing else.

For those who don't know the difference between allocations and appropriations and are unfamiliar with the complex federal budgetary process.

In today's media world of simple soundbites, we need simple messages. " We approve of border security but refuse to fund a wall period paragraph."

10. It's also the responsiblity of journalists to correctly report things though..
Fri Nov 30, 2018, 05:29 AM

Some of them on twitter are only slightly walking back on the initial outrage to Raji's incorrect reporting, now I'm reading some silliness about "Terminological confusion" because Schumer did put the "wall" as a bargaining chip in the DACA negotiations during budget funding but Schumer's office has specifically said that it is not the same deal.

Some journalists are feeding outrage and misinforming people at the same time. Vox has a truly silly editorial up where it's .. "Yeah okay it's not the wall but but but Schumer why u like this" - a pointless piece. It's like context is a foreign concept and it reminds me of the misinformation over the "fast-tracking of judges" when that deal involved the NLRB.
