Why the hell would Manafort's lawyer share info with Trump's lawyers?

Manafort wanting this is kind of understandable, it might help him get a pardon, but why would a lawyer do this?
What would make the risk worth it to him?

He may get disbarred now and possibly even face criminal charges.
How the heck did Manafort or Trump get this poor jerk to do this for them?

And Trump's lawyers - have they risked anything by being party to this?
I understand they felt it could help their case by getting the inside info but isn't that illegal too?

Maybe this was why John Dowd quit. He didn't want to be party to this kind of illegal stunt.

It seems so stupid.

At the least, they all could be called as witnesses and have to withdraw as counsel for their client Jersey Devil Nov 2018 #1

Very logical. Possibly Manafort is also afraid for his family as they are more accessible. alwaysinasnit Nov 2018 #4

Imagine Rudy G having to stop talking because he no longer can represent Trump due to a conflict.

I think someone stands to lose their life at the hands of the Russians over this.

Manafort isn't stupid, he's terrified. Somehow I think if he can get trump and company off the hook, his debts will be paid.

Nobody in their right mind would do the things he's done (breaking plea agreements, brokering backroom deals, going against the terms of your release) unless your life depends on it

He ought to fear Mueller, but Putin will get him killed in a particularly unpleasant way. And he has to be thinking of how the Saudi's killed the journalist. (Not going to try to spell the poor man's name.)

but after Manafort had a plea and cooperation agreement, continuing the joint defense agreement is obviously corrupt and/or professionally ethically dubious.

Trumps lawyers at this point (Giuliani, Sekulow, ???) are NOT the best lawyers. Totally in over their heads. And with an impossible client. I can see them doing this.

But Manafort's lawyers? No idea what is going through their heads.

And obstruct, and there's so much already known to convict with its being held up by the gop , who are also conspiring , and obstructing too.

Great reporting, weak legal analysis: The shocking installation of Manafort as a Trump mole inside the Mueller probe wasn’t just “highly unusual.” It was blatantly illegal. Witness tampering and obstruction of justice are serious federal crimes.
