KETV Omaha: Lack of Insurance Keeps Hit-and-Run Victim Out of Rehab Center

A 16-year-old girl is facing a long road to recovery while police are still looking for the person who put her in the hospital.

Selene Castaneda was in a parked car with her cousin when a truck crashed into them near Mason Street and Park Avenue on Aug. 4. The driver of the truck left the scene. Police said they later found the pickup truck, which had been stolen.

Castaneda was well enough to leave the Nebraska Medical Center on Thursday, but her doctors want her to go to a rehabilitation center. Her family doesn't have health insurance and they can't afford any more expenses.

Right now Castaneda can't walk or go back to school for her senior year.

I guess the view of those opposing the ACA on matters like this feel that pancake breakfasts are a more efficient means of paying for indigent healthcare.
