(54,436 posts)Seeing as how, just like in 2008, the winner of the Democratic primary is likely to be the next president, it will be an ugly hard fight. Of course, the winner of the 2016 primaries won the election, too, just not the counting.

(16,189 posts)No waivering, no high voice or lighthearted sound, just a serious yes, I am considering it.
He asked her about Joe Biden and she said he had many great qualities.. then she said something like, I think theres benefit if the next candidate comes from the Midwest...
DFW
(54,436 posts)She is refreshingly straightforward.
I disagree that the next candidate HAS to come from anywhere. American Samoa maybe? The next candidate needs to be a GREAT candidate. The accident of the geography of their birth should be completely secondary. Hell my younger daughter would probably make a great president, too, and she was born in the German Rheinland (Trump wouldn't like her--born overseas and a high-efficiency bullshit detector on constant alert).
Fear not, she has no interest!

(871 posts)I'm tired, and so is most of America, of the same old candidates being pulled out of mothballs, dressed in new clothes, preaching the same old bs. It would be refreshing having a candidate that has not been previously rejected by the voters.

(25,183 posts)will look like a circus. Even with a "kiddie table" to separate out the ones with the lower poll numbers, if they try to divide the candidates in half, there will still be a large number on the stage, each time.

(28,082 posts)we have turned passive aggressive into an art and Amy has always struck me as a master.
Amy as the candidate does not excite me. She's never excited me that much as a senator until her handling of Kavanaugh. She's never been one to take a stand on anything controversial, currently won't support Medicare for All and for awhile she was so palsy with McCain and Graham it was nauseating.
And, after soon to be former Representative Erik Paulsen she has some of the rudest staff I've ever spoken to - even when calling to agree with her. This may be because she's rumored to be difficult to work for. She was the Hennepin County Attorney for years and I know AFSCME members who begged the union not to endorse her for the senate because of how staff was treated (it did endorse her).

(28,837 posts)I think so as well, but never had enough gumption to say it.
You made my day.

(33,400 posts)It took the perfect storm of a complicit media (bothsides, emails, clouds and shadows), Russian disinformation campaign (reached 1.4 million on facebook alone), electronic voting machines, a Hatch Act violation by Comey just before the election, 'irregularities' from some coincidentally critical polling stations, and a propaganda machine that has been attacking Hillary Clinton for over 30 years. And yet she came within less than a college football stadium's worth of votes, total, of getting the electoral votes to match popular voting.
Yet, you think we need a female VP first. Seems the voters don't necessarily agree with that artificial limitation.

(54,436 posts)Hillary's candidacy (and ultimate win) proved that gender is no longer a barrier (as if Norway, India, the UK, Germany, Pakistan, Ireland and Finland hadn't shown that a long time ago). But Hillary DID break the glass ceiling in the USA. The day of "but first..." is over and done with.

(28,837 posts)Despite Hillarys success. Hillary was the most qualified person to ever run.
Klobuchar is no Hillary Clinton. Yet.
I like Amy K., and think she'd be a great president but worry she couldn't win at this point because she needs a bigger national footprint. Time as a veep would set her up perfectly.

(9,874 posts)There is just something about the way she says things that I really like. I don't know how to describe it, except that she sounds very relaxed and seems to be speaking directly to you when she speaks, giving the impression that she is giving a personal message and not just a speech.

There is already to much coercion involved in adoption.

(4,834 posts)These are the kind of questions we should know the answer to before choosing the Democratic Nominee. Just ask Bart, er...Brett.

(14,565 posts)Might be a disqualifying variable but I still like her.
Actually she's my second choice behind Beto. I think she is just the type of pleasant down to earth female who could withstand Trump's assaults while retaining favorability and understanding she didn't need to play in the gutter alongside him.

She did surprisingly well in the Kavanaugh hearing - and I used the word "surprisingly" because for the most part Klobuchar has been a wishy-washy centrist who carefully avoids taking controversial positions. She presents herself well but I just don't think she has the backbone to be a good president.
