(3,344 posts)There is only one charge, with a zero to 6 months max. This means Flynn cooperated.

(13,616 posts)If mueller was weak, he would have given up a long tiem ago..what this could mean is that since manafort fucked up, flynn knows he does not want to be nailed. As Flynn was very close to Putin, this can be a payload.

(17,180 posts)From page 1.....
Given the defendants substantial assistance and other considerations set
forth below, a sentence at the low end of the guideline rangeincluding a sentence that does not
impose a term of incarcerationis appropriate and warranted.

pnwmom
(108,990 posts)which no one here would disagree with.
But that wasn't one of the charges.
Goodheart
(5,336 posts)especially in light of the fact that he helped to create and propagate an atmosphere that screamed for jail time for an innocent person.
I'm not saying that "substantial assistance" is bad news, and you can be happy that a criminal stool pigeon will walk free... I don't have to be.
pnwmom
(108,990 posts)strongly encourages other witnesses/participants to fully cooperate.
That's more important than satisfying our desire for vengeance on Flynn.

(2,009 posts)He's showing the carrot here for Flynn, and I believe Manafort's sentencing memo is due Friday, where he'll show the stick.

(56,828 posts)is really bad news for Team Trump. He's the one that did a lot of the traveling to various foreign leaders throughout 2016 to set up the collusion.

(108,990 posts)As a pathological narcissist, he is constantly creating his own world. Flynn was out of sight, so he could be out of Trump's thoughts.
And then today he came crashing through Trump's mental defenses.

(34,491 posts)I wanted him locked up!
Goodheart
(5,336 posts)unless Mueller had said in his filing that granting immunity from jail time was critical to getting his testimony, or that he had traded for it.
Catherine Vincent
(34,491 posts)I know he gave up everything on the Trump cabal but he should get some lock up...even if it's just 6 months or so.
Goodheart
(5,336 posts)and somebody with that attitude should not be allowed to walk away from crimes that are very much tangential to it.
Catherine Vincent
(34,491 posts)Yes. I've read up top where it would have been 0 to 6 mths regardless but still...
I am also guessing Mueller felt a bit sorry for Flynn just because he's military.
ecstatic
(32,728 posts)I was really looking forward to seeing him locked up.
Ilsa
(61,697 posts)and Mueller is okay with no time because flynn was extremely helpful and in a timely way.
Trump should be nervous, but he will tweet that mueller has nothing, or flynn would be going to jail.

(11,949 posts)Had Mueller, or the judge even slightly considered his chanting when deciding a Sentence then they would have been guilty of professional malfeasance. That can play no role in the sentencing.
And assuming he testified in front of a grand jury all his testimony can be used when going after others. He can be called to testify as well.
Even with the redactions it is clear that he knows all about the ties between the Russians and the Trump Campaign. And spilled it all.
This is very bad for the president and his inner circle. Especially when contrasted to the pile-driver Mueller took to Manafort who did not cooperate.
Look for the Bunker in the White House to become even more unhinged.
George II

(11,949 posts)Muellers job goes much further than putting people in jail. Although he has certainly done that.
His job is to show the extent of Russian meddling and to determine if Americans colluded with them.
Looks like Flynn was a great help where that is concerned. No one was in a position to know more. And it is stated that from the beginning he spilled the beans. All of them. Probably he saw early on that any communication with a high ranking Russian is recorded by the NSA.

(11,949 posts)Looks like Mueller got what he needed.
And imagine Mikeys position. From National Security Director to admitted Felon hated on the right for turning on Trump.
He will live the rest of his life in disgrace. Even if Trump pardons him what he said in front of a grand jury is admissible in court. He can even be called to testify. And trump will not pardon someone who has turned on him.

(11,949 posts)He gave up the goods on trump. Can you imagine where he will stand with the wing-nuts this time tomorrow? Or the Russian.
His life is going to be hell.
I hope he does not drink tea and lives in a one story house.
