I just hope we don't get our hopes up..

Yes Mueller and the FBI can come up with a bunch of stuff that shows tRump is guilty as hell. If Mueller defers the prosecution to the Congress that could be a problem..Yes the House of Representatives would probably impeach. Would the republican Senate prosecute?? And if it goes to the Supremes would the conservative tipped court approve the indictment??
My fear... nothing happens... What 'cha tink?

1. I don't expect him to be removed from office or step down.

But I do think that Mueller's findings will be so damaging that when he runs in 2020, it's such an albatross around his neck that he loses. And that's good enough for me.

2. Even without impeachment or indictment, Trump loses.

He will be weakened for the next two years and his corruption will be a issue in 2020. I think that's why Pelosi is smart to make HR 1 an ethics bill, even though(or perhaps, because) it won't get through the Senate.

He will be too damaged to run in 2020, IMO. I have doubts that he will. If he does, he will subject himself and his party to some major losses.

Either way, I think the chances will remain good that the Dems will own all three branches in 2020.

tRump will not only be a loser, he will continue to be under investigation after leaving office at the very least.

5. In one sense the investigation has already been a raging success

First off it’s produced a number of indictments which might be news to the poster above who made the tired, lame and factually inaccurate comparison to “Fitzmas”.

Moreover, it has made Donnie’s life as president fucking miserable and has caused him to become unhinged. It’s the first thing he thinks of when he wakes up every day, and it’s the last thing he thinks about when he goes to sleep at night.

As for the big picture, i predict 2019 will bevthe most tumultuous year in our country since 1968. You can feel it in the air. Buckle up.

the Trumpster will be irrevocably damaged. What I'm hoping for? Evidence so compelling and treacherous that even the Republicans know that the Squatter-in-Chief is finished. As with the evidence offered by the CIA yesterday to a select group of legislators. Corker said it would take 30 minutes for a jury to find the Saudi 'prince' guilty of murder. Even Lindsey Graham said they had the 'smoking bone saw.'

Anything that weakens the Trumpster, humiliates him, strips his assets as illegal gains and dumps him & his family forever from the world stage will satisfy me.

An orange jumpsuit would be icing on the cake.

9. People who watch Rachel Maddow every night have bizarre unrealistic expectations

She does a terrific job of piecing together all the crimes and lies, but she is brutal in terms of real world application of them. It's not so much Rachel stating it as viewers assuming it.

As always, to forecast the future by far the best approach is to totally ignore today. Then ignore tomorrow. And so forth. Rely on big picture normalcy and it seldom leads astray.

We'll have to defeat Donald Trump at the ballot box in 2020. And as incumbent he'll have extraordinary resources at his disposal. For example, no doubt he'll have statements from foreign leaders who prefer his style to Obama's, and run those statements in glossy campaign commercials. The public is huge sucker for garbage like that. It always amazes me that people put so much weight in day to day irrelevance while ignoring situational influence and obvious big picture variables that loom ahead, sourced from that normalcy.
