From Fox & Friends to the State Department, and now likely to the United Nations.
President Trump is expected to announce Friday that he has chosen Heather Nauert, the State Department spokeswoman and a former Fox News host, to become the next ambassador to the U.N., a senior administration official tells NPR's Tamara Keith.
If confirmed, Nauert would replace Nikki Haley, who is leaving the post at the end of the year.
There have been other missteps, including the time when she cited D-Day the Allied invasion of Normandy against the Nazis as an example of America's strong relationship with Germany.

(5,914 posts)I hope it puts a fatal end to the idea of "outsiders" providing a fresh perspective to jobs in government.
No, they don't. Like "outsiders" in any job, they simply don't know what the fuck they're doing. I would no more hire a Fox News talking bubblehead to be Ambassador to the UN than I would hire Taylor Swift to perform an oil and filter change on my car.

He is making a mockery out of a serious body for diplomacy and peace and if he makes this appointment shows the world how little respect he has for the UN and we quite literally will be represented by an inexperienced representative Fox News Barbie who has been making a mockery out of reporting statements from the State Dept for 2 years standing there doe eyed with make up and false.
I want to throw up...

"Don't wait for the translation, answer 'yes' or 'no'!"
"I am not in an American court of law, and therefore do not answer a question put to me in the manner of a prosecuting counsel...you will have your answer in due course"
"I am prepared to wait for my answer until Hell freezes over!"
To a Fox News spokes model.

(27,045 posts)Harry Truman appointed ER to the first American delegation to the United Nations. She represented the U.S. at the UN from December 31, 1945, until December 31, 1952, when the newly elected President Dwight Eisenhower requested her resignation.
The UN established a permanent Commission on Human Rights and unanimously elected ER chair, a position she held from 1947 until 1951 when she relinquished it saying that she did not believe in permanent chairs. She also chaired the subcommittee charged with drafting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), and also insisted that a new chair be appointed at the end of her two-year term. She presented the UDHR to the General Assembly for adoption December 10, 1948.
ER was the UN's most noted ambassador. She traveled throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Pacific investigating conditions and urging both support for the UN and UN humanitarian and diplomatic aid. Within the United States, she championed the UN tirelessly in "My Day," the articles and books she wrote for adults and young people, and on her lecture tour.

Trump is just being very supportive of women by appointing them to important positions. This one might be more obedient than Nikki Haley was.

She was on CBS's Amazing Race a couple of years after that video. She exhibited surprisingly high intelligence and resourcefulness. Her boyfriend, whom she was paired up with for the show, was pretty much an idiot. Or, at least, that's how he was portrayed on that show.
She has said that she was terrified when she was asked that question at the pageant. She was on the spot and didn't know what to say. I have been in that position. I think we all have, at some time.
