Visiting in Indiana, I joined PF for one month, noticed they only show one cable news channel - Fox News.
I asked the staff if I could watch msnbc or cnn. A young kid in charge told me they were unable to change channels.
I googled PF and found out that for the purpose of reducing stress all PF gyms were, as of this month, totally cable news free.
However... not this one. But the staff are teens and clueless, so I wouldnt even attempt to sort this out with them. And... it is Indiana.
Yes, I can stream whatever I want on my iPhone. But Im a little annoyed at this rule, plus the breaking of this rule in this particular gym.
On the google link, the reps at PF stated that NO ONE has complained about the new rule, which I find preposterous to begin with. People catch the news at their a.m. gym workouts. Of course there have been complaints.
So, any other PF members out there? What do you think?

I wished they'd air MSNBC, but my local PF is not exactly progressive.

(25,857 posts)why is it even necessary to have TVs on at a fitness center? Why is it necessary to have them EVERYWHERE any more? Put out magazines, newspapers, let people read their own books (I always have at least one in my purse at all times), maybe even talk to each other.
A sports bar is something else entirely. At least most of the time they have the sound off, but recently I was at one with multiple TVs tuned to multiple sporting events and the sound was on on each and every TV. Noisy and annoying.

Am I the only one disturbed by the notion that people cannot sit quietly or entertain themselves?

(4,492 posts)Many people want to watch TV while they're on the treadmill, etc. The other is a sports bar.

Fox News to something else and I was rebuffed.
Fox News is a cancer on America's brain.

I don't try to watch TV while I'm working out, so this kinda doesn't bother me, but I get why it's a thing, especially considering it's not supposed to be on news at all.

(21,871 posts)Has MSNBC, CNN, FAUX plus a local news channel, plus a Spanish news channel, and then the other... entertainment shows. That was one of the things I liked about it.

(82,849 posts)Go up the hierarchy and talk to a supervisor or a manager, someone who does have a say in the matter. Express your concerns reasonably and don't accuse them of anything you don't know for a fact. It's just possible they made a decision of what to put on the TVs without thinking about it very much. Even if their response is "If you don't like it, you commie libtard snowflake cuck, you can get the hell out of here," thank the big shot for his or her time, and proceed accordingly.
Be the gracious adult, and give them a chance to pleasantly surprise you.
