Too much risk of Paul Ryan stepping into the Presidency if Pence were gone and Trump abruptly resigned.
It wouldn't be prudent at this juncture to force Pence to resign. Just wait until the new Congress is seated.

(62,444 posts)Who or what is going to "remove Pence"?
I'm not sure how to phrase this simply, but there is nobody with the authority to "remove Pence" if he doesn't want to go. The R majority in the Senate ensures he will not be impeached, so perhaps you might explain what it is you are cautioning against.

I'll wait until the evidence backs particular theories.

(43,182 posts)I know that's what people want after the Democrats take over, but no way is that happening.
Republicans will not cede over to the Democrats like that.
Trump may fall and Pence could take his place. Or for whatever reason, Pence could resign on his own and be replaced by a new VP.
But no way are both of them going out at the same time.

(62,444 posts)It doesnt take long for Trump to appoint a VP, and its not as if Pence could actually be impeached by January anyway.
What is it you intend to suggest by remove Pence? Like, who in your mind has the power to do that?

(86,612 posts)impeachment, he can be arrested and perpwalked any time. We need for the next Congress to be sworn in, because when the indictments come down, it could include a big chunk of Congress, the entire Cabinet and the throne so, best we wait until stable minds are in the room to fill the vacancies anticipated. Congress adjourns after next Friday, I can wait until January 3rd or 4th.

(62,444 posts)In order to not be VP he must resign, be impeached, or die.
See, e.g. Spiro Agnew.
We literally have an example of a criminally charged VP, and folks still dont seem to get it.

(42,703 posts)He isn't going to be impeached and convicted. And even if he's indicted, I would bet against him giving up and resigning (a la Agnew) but would expect him to fight it out.
