There's a non-zero chance Trump starts a war to distract Americans from his perfidy and the slowing economy.
I'm wary.

Seriously, all parties involved want a war with Iran (Exxon, al Saud, Netanyahu). All they gotta do is cut a deal with Putin, say, in return for dropping Magnistsky so he gets trillions from Exxon. Done deal...oops, except that DJT dropped the ball on Magnitsky.

(58,785 posts)One of the talking heads on MSNBC said he asked a friend, who'd been a prison guard and required to go among the population unarmed, how he did it. He was told you have to avoid cornering anyone, always leave them at least some way out. Trump has no way out.
That said, I also have some belief that not all orders would be followed. Woodward and others have described interactions with the military which would be falling off the chair funny if... "The generals" have his measure and understand the problem all too well.

I get two main things from conservatives I know who still support him. 1) He is doing severe damage to department after department, weakening the federal government. 2) He is withdrawling on the world stage
If he went to war they would be very unhappy about it. They simply like how much he is weakening us at the federal level. Then again, outside of being racist bigots, not all conservatives are the same.
