I'm a progressive whether I use your buzzwords or not. You don't get to tell me what or what I cannot say.

BS and AOC went to Kansas to campaign for one of those "progressives".. But, Sharice Davids Won.. even though some on the BS team tried to paint her as a "corporatist". Didn't work.. and it didn't work for Gov Elect Gretchen Whitmer or Rep Lacy Clay, either.

Excellent OP, lapucelle.. Mahalo!

The new meaning of progressive is anti-establishment.

Establishment means regular Democrats (beholden to corporations and wealthy donors, have no economic message only identity politics, ignore working/middle classes blah blah blah, you know).

Trump voters are working class (sad white men) driven by economic anxiety (NOT RACISM what are you talking about) who were put off by the identity politics-political-correctness-no-economic-message-just-not-Trump of Democrats, what else could they do? In 2020 if true progressives run with the right economic message (word for word), Trump voters will vote for them.

Republicans: Who?

I don't mean to be a smart ass and what other parts of the Democratic party are there? I understand that progressives come under the umbrella of the democratic party but what other parts are there? Or could you point me in the right direction cause I'm curious...

And reject the progressive term due to its historical baggage.

We believe in many policies that are now called progressive. But reject the idea that all problems in the US can be solved by economic policies that help the majority. Cause the majority leaves out lots of people.

Call me a Democrat. Call me a liberal. Call me a social democrat( how I self identify). Do not call me a progressive. I refuse to share a title with Wilson, Long, Bilbo and the others. They were considered good progressive. Supported policies to help the working people. The white working people. If you think that possibility has passed us by you are kidding yourself. The whole reaching out the newly oppressed white workers is a play from an old strategy.

"Wilson, Long, Bilbo and the others. They were considered good progressive."

The radicals and mass left organizations including labor organizations that fought for and led millions of workers, including white male and female workers, never considered or called them progressives.

They were denounced as fake populists, demagogues and treated as enemies of working class people.

Most unions except for the UMA were racist at the time.

Good luck trying to convince the base of our party in the southern states(African Americans) that simple economics is at the heart of the problem. Or that their erstwhile allies will not turn on them. When I read leftist lamenting that we have alienated the white working class I read it way different than a white man from Ohio.

They are from red and purple states, generally. So they usually are relatively conservative compared to Democrats from blue states.

Bill Clinton led a group of centrist Dems who were called New Democrats, often accused of being too corporate.

Bernie has never joined the Democratic party even though he ran on the Democratic ticket in 2016. He calls himself a Democratic Socialist although he caucuses with the Democrats. Some of his followers consider themselves Social Democrats, I believe, rather than members of a third party like the Green Party or Independent.

looks to be those satisfied with “talking” but no results are needed. I’ll stick with the progressives in California who want to see results, results like winning elections and actually governing and producing actual policy, squeezing Republicans out. Progressives attacking Democrats don’t look too “progressive,” actually.
