Sen. Elizabeth Warren has the core of her 2020 team in place if she runs for president. She has the seed money theres $12.5 million ready to go, left over from her recent Senate run and a massive email list shes amassed over years, boosted by a $3.3 million investment in digital infrastructure and advertising in the last election alone. Her aides have been quietly shopping for presidential campaign headquarters space in the Boston area in recent weeks, according to a source with knowledge of the move.
All thats left is for her to give the green light.
When and if she does, shell be rolling out arguably the most advanced and sweeping infrastructure in the Democratic field, a plug-and-play campaign that could give her a massive head start on nearly every contender in the burgeoning primary roster, with only Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) coming close.
So far, Warren has merely said she would take a hard look at running for president. People with knowledge of her strategy said she has not yet made a final decision but if she joins the field, Warren will be among the earlier candidates to announce.

(50,285 posts)proving her Native American roots than he must have been proving he wasn't the son of an orangutan in a real courtroom. He actually produced his birth certificate when he sued Bill Maher for saying he was the offspring of orangutans.

(56,828 posts)but, I agree that she needs to come up with a good "soundbite" or "tweet" sized answer for that question or she'll be continually hammered over it. Similar to how Clinton kept getting clobbered over the email non-issue because it was not easy to explain in a soundbite or a tweet.

(59,504 posts)For 6 years, people including some here questioned why she did not quietly do just this and if the results were what they were, release them. They back up her family's stories.
The video released with the results was excellent defining the background that made her who she is. The story that part of her family was against that marriage and the fact that they married and raised a family is an American story.
The one exception is the concern expressed by native Americans. Here, she can and should meet with them especially those who spoke out. She never claimed that that small part defined her as native American. It simply confirmed that she has some heritage. It should be an easy transition to explaining that even before the DNA test she was proud of her family and that she valued the contributions native Americans have made to America.
It easily ties into the issues of immigration. The US always was a melting pot where people of many heritages came together. Just as in her family, there were some forces against assimilation, but most of us are the product of people who were not from the same "tribe".

(9,269 posts)Unfortunately she is a ripe target for the GOP Slime Machine. They will beat her down like they did to HRC. Much as its wrong to take that into consideration, we have to. Plus shes pushing 70 although she looks much younger. Historically Dems win with a younger candidate. And we need a contrast to our 74 yo opponent.

(638 posts)She will be high on my list of candidates if she decides to run. She's a smart cookie and would make a terrific President.
