Instead by keeping Daniels and McDougal quiet, both he and Melania were able to influence voters by claiming that the allegations of grabbing were false and that the tape was merely locker room boy talk that didn't amount to anything. The public humiliation and lack of support from Melania could have turned voters against him, especially women voters who were on fence.
