MISHAWAKA Aaron Trejo, a Mishawaka High School student, allegedly thought for a week about killing 17-year-old Breana Rouhselang, a fellow student who was six months pregnant with his child. Rouhselang's body was found in a dumpster near her home early Sunday morning and Trejo is now accused in her death.
Trejo, 16, was charged Monday with one count of murder and one count of feticide, a Level 3 Felony. Trejo allegedly stabbed and killed Rouhselang after the two got in a fight over her pregnancy. He has been in custody since Sunday morning.
According to a probable cause affidavit, police say Trejo initially denied he met with Rouhselang the night of her disappearance, but when confronted with the physical evidence, eventually told them Rouhselang waited too long to tell him about the baby and it was too late for an abortion.
When asked what he did about it, Trejo reportedly told police, "I took action... I took her life," according to court documents.

But, hey, let's not teach teenagers how to prevent pregnancies when they have sex with each other. That might result in them having sex with each other, you see...
We are truly beyond stupid in this country. Thanks so much to right-wing Christianity. Great job!

(31,518 posts)premarital sex. However, that's about all we had when I was in high school and several girls had to drop out because they were pregnant. Birth control pills had just come out, but they were for married women only. Abortions were back alley type and you took your life in your hands.
Many lives have been changed and/or ruined by lack of sex education and legal reproductive health services.

(1,379 posts)This is a young woman who wanted to keep her baby. Period. End of story!
I can understand the debates about whether he should be charged with "feticide" or not.
But in my mind when she made the decision to keep her baby, it was a baby, and not just a fetus any longer.
You seem to be saying that since she obviously didn't believe in abortion (at least for herself), that is the cause of this "tragedy".
It's more than a tragedy, its murder, and in my mind it is TWO murders (she wanted her baby), this guy deserves life in prison!

(146,317 posts)Abortion is part of it, but the main question is: Why was she pregnant? Contraception prevents pregnancy, but it is not taught to our teens in many place. in fact, teaching about it is prohibited in many places.

If this was his solution to dealing with a pregnant girlfriend, I hope he gets what he deserves. She didn't get a chance at life. He looks evil. Completely dead eyes. I hope he suffers for the rest of his miserable life.
