Trump wants that wall badly enough to have our poor pay for it.

1. Universal health care (long term savings helps pay for the wall)
2. A quick path to citizenship for undocumented individuals who came to this country as children
3. A longer path to citizenship--which includes a short term higher tax rate--for undocumented individuals who came here as adults and have no violent or drug related felonies
4. Campaign finance reform
5. A reproductive act bill that allows women the right to birth control
6. A national marriage Equality act
7. A national right to vote act

If we get all that, then fine, we will build the wall.

When many middle of the road folks figure out how well broadly socializing those costs works out, the whole "socialism" canard becomes a non-weapon. Then the "left" bogeyman disappears and the wall won't be supported by the people at all.

By the time it's 20% built, we don't spend any more money on it and the electorate is now more open to all the rest of the items on your list.

You could build a 40 foot tall wall out of all the steel and concrete you want, but unless it is regularly patrolled and monitored, it is completely worthless. Whoever wants to breech it will do so unless they are observed and caught doing so.

If a wall is built, how much more illegal border crossings is it going to stop than a border without a wall? Absolutely none.
