Sales for Michelle Obamas memoir have topped 3 million and the former first lady is extending her book tour into 2019.
Becoming, published four weeks ago, is among the fastest-selling nonfiction books in history and already among the best-selling political memoirs of all time.
Live Nation and Crown Publishing announced Tuesday that Obama will have 21 events next year, six of them in Europe. She has been appearing at such arenas as New York Citys Barclays Center and Chicagos United Center, with guest interviewers including Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon.
Her tour is now scheduled to end May 12 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.

However there are parts of the book that have made me laugh as well.

(31,390 posts)I put my name on the hold list at the library before it was published. Glad I did! Only had to wait about 10 days for my name to come up because the county library (with many branches here in Wake County, NC) had about 100 copies.
She has quite a story to tell.
I saw her when she came to Chapel Hill during Obama's re-election campaign. She was a marvelous speaker. It's interesting to read her perspective on how she developed those speaking skills during the campaign.

(82,849 posts)Deadbeat Donny is obsessed with ratings, rankings, and other gauges of popularity. The hotcakes nature of Michelle Obama's book sales has to be consuming him. He can't use his standard litany of "Ha ha I'm better than you" words like "failed," and the attention that the book is getting takes directly from the attention he is sure should be directed at him.

(363 posts)There will soon be millions of already-read copies of this book in blue houses across America, not really doing much.
Think we could ask our fellow progressives to send them to Donnie boy as holiday gifts? I know the White House mail doesn't actually go directly to the White House, but just knowing that there are thousands of these things addressed to him (or Melania!) would just have to bother him deeply. And when the press picks it up, with pictures of mountains of "Becoming" sitting there, addressed to Donnie, it really could be a lot of fun.
And it only costs a dollar or two to mail a book. Bound reading material has a special, low, postage rate.
Just a thought.
