By Trump?
Did they know beforehand that Trump had requested cameras be on hand? Did they know they were going to "debate" the wall on national TV?
I'm thinking they may have been surprised by the Trump Production? Although, under the circumstances, they seemed to get their points across fairly effectively.
Divisive politics.

He might even kickoff a Bush great recession 2, who knows? One is on the way because of his insane trade and tax polices anyway but this on camera confession will cement it to him forever!

(10,437 posts)It was a set up, but schumer and pelosi weren't born yesterday. Trump wanted confrontation. He is going to get his wish.
We see how long GOP in congress goes along.

(3,333 posts)"Trump destroys Pelosi/Schumer" or some other dumb thing like that. This is the type of things his base wants. FFS, why is this man still in office?

(11,738 posts)Some posters are saying the Pelosi and Schumer looked weak, because you know, no one threw a punch or called him a "fucking liar" in front of all the Press and the Nation.

(11,738 posts)There were people on DU who think that Trump came out of that meeting looking better than the Democrats.

(11,738 posts)He pointed out that it started out the "Mexico was going to pay for it".
I am sure it all depends on the perspective. I thought that Trump was bellicose, but he certainly was the one saying that there was going to be a shut down.
I am sure to his supporters, he looked "tough and manly", but he certainly did not seem like a good negotiator to me.

(33,345 posts)Its how they get their way. Force, threats, public confrontations.

(11,738 posts)Bullies get their way through intimidation. They do not want to fight because they are actually cowards. If you stand up to them, like Pelosi and Schumer did, they get flustered, like Trump did.
He looked and sounded like a spoiled child next to two grown ups and a mannequin.

(33,345 posts)so they're not always paper tigers. Still remember the asshole's name: Duke Duncanson. But I take your point.
My main point is that he's forced this stupid Wall debate on the nation and dragged us all down into the mud. Conservatives excel at this tactic: making intelligent people argue the obvious over and over, thereby stealing time from more important matters, which is the goal.
