Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) cleared a major hurdle in bid to be House Speaker, reaching a deal with Democratic rebels that includes stepping aside by 2022.
In a concession, the California congresswoman will also support a three-term limit for the top three House Democratic leaders. That means she would step aside no later than 2022 as party leader.
.....SNIP"

(33,360 posts)2. They're going to regret that term limit.
Although she'll be 82, so she'll probably be done then, regardless.
GO NANCY.
Me.
(35,454 posts)5. I Believe She'll Be 82

(10,952 posts)7. If they are smart they will make every effort to learn from her.
She has a lot on institutional knowledge and is very successful. It makes sense for the Democrats in Congress to start grooming the younger members to keep the party viable and adapting over the years.

(52,286 posts)8. She's already announced that she's a "transitional" speaker
I think she's already figuring on retiring in a couple years anyway.

We talked and laughed together for a few moments. She is very pretty and charismatic.

(1,123 posts)9. Just got off a constituent call with Seth Moulton
He said they reached a deal and he will be voting for her. Not many details, but he sounded happy about it.

(8,173 posts)14. Wow, that's a surprise - he wasn't listed as someone who agreed to vote for her in the article
I read. Don't know if that will save him a primary challenge.
