Yesterday, maybe it was the day before that, when I did not think he could hurt us any more than he already has. I was wrong.

(6,831 posts)Back in the day in Southeast Asia, the U S government could not have survived without the assistance of these people. Many of the adults and younger people put their own lives at risk to give US military every possible intel from troop movements to supply lines to build-ups to flight routes to jungle operations. They put everything at risk to help US troops. And in return we promised that they could come here, that we would evacuate their families, provide then with homes, take care of their babies, let them live their lives.
This is like stabbing in the back the man who saved your life. This is wrong. This cannot be allowed to happen. NOT to these people. We OWE them, and we owe them big time.
Start making those phone calls to your elected reps and sens. THIS IS WRONG. On so many levels.

(19,555 posts)My older brother was infantry in Vietnam, 67 to 68.
What I gather is that out of all the horror, death and bloodshed, a lot of service members felt that at least something good came as a result of it, that is, saving some of these children.
