BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. (KCRA)
Pacific Gas and Electric Co. officials say equipment with bullet holes and damaged power lines were found near where the Butte County Camp Fire is believed to have started.
In a letter Tuesday to the California Public Utilities Commission, PG&E officials said an employee "observed fire in the vicinity" of one of the company's towers and workers called 911 the morning of Nov. 8 -- the day the wildfire ignited. The fire claimed at least 86 lives and wiped out nearly 14,000 homes, officials said.
Inspectors later found a broken C-hook and a "flash mark" at that same tower, suggesting a power line broke free and made contact with the tower.
Separately, a PG&E employee on Nov. 9 found a pole and other equipment was on the ground with bullets and bullet holes at a different location near Flea Mountain.

Stopped for a break at one of the Pull Outs, the ground was littered with shell casings and the Nevada shaped historical marker sign looked like a sieve.
