Me: The 75% of Republicans who want anyone but Romney better hope Santorum stays strong or else Romney is it. Nobody else is left standing for them. (Note to self: do NOT Google Santorum stays strong)
Friend: It is impossible for Santorum to compete with Paul outside of Iowa. He has absolutely no support in any of the upcoming caucuses. Your a democrat right? Seeing as to all my liberal friends are voting Ron Paul this upcoming election, I suggest you do the same. Your party is having a field day squandering the liberties and human rights of American Citizens and it would be in your best interest to do so.
WTF?!

(27,711 posts)I posted this video on youtube (I didn't realize it was public at first, but now I just think it's kinda funny):
I got this message:
Paulbot:
What do you think of Ron Paul?
His stance against American imperialism seems logical, what do you disagree with him on?
-------
Ignored it and got this additional message from the same Paulbot:
What is it about Obama that appeals to you?
I don't understand, what is it about Obama that appeals to you other than his supposed party affiliation? Socialism is not economically viable, you'd understand why if you'd have taken an economics course. Foreign aid and the wars in the middle east are digging us deeper into debt, reckless spending has put the US into a multi TRILLION dollar deficit. What do think of the NDAA?
Answer me,I'd like to see how capable you are of an argument.
You should read some books by economist Milton Friedman.
------------
My response:
Do not treat me as if I were a fool, sir. I am assuredly more educated than the vast majority of Americans. President Obama is not a socialist. This distortion of the idea of a free market to mean a justification of an unfair market is not consistent with the very ideas that underpin capitalism. President Obama is a leader. He is standing up for all the people, and not just those who would benefit from a roll back of the most basic government regulations intended to protect the worker, the environment, and the community from the abuses of the wealthy.
Do you realize that it is the Republicans who through the waging of senseless wars, corporate giveaways, and tax cuts for the wealthy who have accumulated that debt? Any solution must combine both progressive tax reform and greater efficiency. Ron Paul has some really absurd positions, I suggest you stop reading Milton Friedman and familiarize yourself with his actual positions, which are quite insane, inane, and impracticable.
Ron Paul is a paranoid conspiracy theorist who has realized that he can hoodwink a great many through taking a couple snazzy, but absurd positions that are uninterpretable to the average low-info voter. He is a dangerous fraud and hypocrite. If Ron Paul is so much for civil liberties why is he constantly suggesting that individual states should have powers overriding even the judgments of the Supreme Court? Ron Paul would take us back to a pre-1861 reality if he could, but he can't, he won't, and letting the more dangerous other Republicans win will do nothing for America. Now please, kindly piss off, I have better things to do than listen to vile contemptible nonsense.
Hope he splits the Republican Party!

I hope their heads explode.

(24,461 posts). . . LOSES.
"Strengthening the already strong" is a FAIL. It's BEEN a failure for 32 years!!
That dead coot and his policies are the reason we're IN this fucking mess. Spending . . . get the hell . . . the problem is a two-fold problem:
1. An INCOME problem regarding the poor/middle/working classes (no income to keep up with the rising cost of living means going into debt to afford anything).
2. A taxation/revenue problem regarding the wealthy (they want to have their costly wars and enhance their already-inflated coffers on our backs).
Ron Paul is an economic Darwinist. He would make shit infinitely worse. Pro-corporate economics will lead to further Banksterism. Child, PLEASE.
Here's another thing that angers me about Paulbots: they talk to everyone else as if they were stupid while wanting to continue the most idiotic economic positions known to mankind and remaining really delusional about the supposed "soshulism" anyone to the left of Joe Lieberman supposedly practices. You want to talk to me about Uncle Milty . . . wake up and get smarter, kids. Whoever told you that this is a "Free Market meritocracy" and poor people are that way because they're lazy isn't your friend and is just a Klansman without his hood.
