American soybean farmers are still waiting to see the benefit of President Donald Trump's trade truce with China.
The President said Tuesday that China is "back in the market" to buy American soybeans -- but farmers said that was the first they had heard of any change since July, when China retaliated against new American tariffs by blocking imports of US agricultural products.
"I've heard rumors that they're going to buy our beans and put them in reserve, but I don't see ships sitting in our ports to haul them to China yet," said John Heisdorffer, an Iowa soybean grower and chairman of the American Soybean Association, on Wednesday.

The Farm Bureau has estimated that soybean exports to China are down 97% this year. Prices for a bushel of soybeans fell by $2 after the tariffs went into place.

(34,661 posts)that is focused on the Mid West area. Sounds like two to four boat loads going out of the West Coast Ports. Portland,Seattle or Vancouver as of yesterday morning. Sounds like the buy price 9.68/bu.,remember there is 1.68 subsidy rolled in this . Something about Brazil being the port of original order. Cargill,ADM and Central Harvest States are running the Brokerage on this sale.
Watch for something to pop on the Twin Cities Newspapers.
Most likely this is old storage product.

"Nonfinancial services": Local contacts note that barge activity has increased due to the large number of storage barges for soybeans affected by recent tariffs.
"Agriculture and natural resources": In addition, contacts expressed concern over the ongoing tariffs leveled at U.S. agricultural products.

(34,661 posts)barges being used as well as hopper cars being loaded out and parked on unused sidings. Hunch is this order might be the loaded Hoppers and the Barges are all in Winter Tie Up so it appears to be rail. BNSF has Rail Head Storage between Chicago and North Dakota that would match the numbers being mentioned in the order.

(7,511 posts)combining his beans onto the ground. I had to do a double take. The chute that normally takes the beams to trucks or wagons was horizontal the beans were just being poured on the ground with the stalks. Heck of a dust storm.
