Bush ethics czar "Trump's goose is cooked It's time for him to work out a plea deal -- and resign"

Former White House ethics lawyer Richard Painter said President Donald Trump could not survive the legal challenges piling up around him — and he urged him to step down and cut a deal with prosecutors.

Painter appeared Saturday morning on “AM Joy on MSNBC,” where he said Trump had plainly broken the law by continuing to profit from foreign investment into his family’s Washington, D.C. hotel — which the president leased from the federal government.

“Everybody is ignoring the law,” Painter said. “The General Services Administration signed a lease with him that specifically prohibited a United States government official from having an interest in the hotel, but they don’t want to enforce that lease. They came up with a convoluted opinion that explains away the clear terms of the lease.”

“The emoluments from foreign governments going that hotel — illegal,” he added. “Congress won’t enforce the law, that’s been the problem over the past two years.”

Everyone that helped him can plea to their hearts content but the royal family needs to be tried and convicted for the good of the country.

And after their jail terms are completed, they should be exiled.

I'd be fine with that.

they happen all the time, and victims of crime and their friends and family are often disappointed and outraged. A driver who kills someone while drunk all but gets a walk. Then there's the frat president who rapes and almost kills a girl and he gets probation.

I don't think Trump will ever spend any time in a jail or prison any more than Bush and Cheney were ever going to be frog-marched to The Hague. And even when we get rid of Trump, what's to be done with his tens of millions of followers, some who clearly will be violent so we had better be ready for it.
And unless the Left treats every election seriously and gets out and votes for the Democratic candidates, the GOP will be back again.

et al tried in the media, and let the voters pass judgement at the ballot box. Risky given all the Repub election tricks, but other options of dealing with Trump Inc have their own issues.

We just held a week long “state funeral” fit for royalty for one dead President. The previous president (and family) is currently rehabilitating the previous war criminal who belongs in The Hague.

If we move on "for the good of the country" again, the Repugs will laugh all the way to the bank. We have to firmly join Drumpf with them and take them down, too. Turn over all the rocks! Don't let them slither away again.
