"SNIP....
Rep. Beto ORourke (D-TX) is getting more buzz as a potential White House contender than people whove served as governor, senator or even vice president and secretary of state, even though hes still stinging from falling short last month to Sen. Ted Cruz, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Said ORourke: The fact that we came close doesnt diminish the bitterness of the loss.
Acknowledging the very real doubts about whether someone who couldnt win election in his home state deserves promotion to commander in chief: Oh yeah. I think thats a great question. I ask that question myself.
He added: I just dont feel comfortable talking to anybody in Iowa or New Hampshire, because I dont want to stoke. I just truly have not made a decision or even really begun the serious work of making a decision, so I just dont want to lead anyone to think that were doing something or not doing something.
....SNIP"

(11,615 posts)The thing about Beto is he admits he doesn't have "presidential" qualifications and would no doubt appoint knowledgeable people he trusted to consult. He would not make decisions without properly researching situations to consider how his policies might affect all groups of people.

(42,375 posts)I hope he runs for Senate again, this time against Cornyn. His time to run for president will come, I think.

(118,793 posts)the Kennedy's and the Roosevelts (including Eleanor). Someone who doesn't want any power to accomplish public service would be hapless. And not good. Keep in mind the GOP are filled with sharks and will stop at nothing to get power. We need someone scrappy and nimble. Harris, Beto, Biden, Warren, Bernie, Booker, Newsome, etc have their hearts in the right place. And fight in them. "Fight the good fight" and all.
