Less than two weeks after joining President Trumps legal team last April, Rudy Giuliani let slip to Sean Hannity that his client reimbursed Michael Cohen for the $130,000 he paid Stormy Daniels prior to the 2016 election. This contradicted Trumps claim that he had no knowledge of the payment, which has since been thoroughly disproven. At the time, the president tried to explain that Giuliani had yet to get his facts straight while preaching the need to learn before you speak.
Despite a questionable grasp of the facts and a deteriorating understanding of the law, Giuliani has continued to go on cable news to defend the president. Invariably, he does more harm than good, and his spate of appearances on Sunday was no exception. He argued that collusion is not a crime; he said that its no big deal if Roger Stone told Trump that WikiLeaks planned to release hacked Democratic emails; he rationalized the presidents lies regarding the pre-election hush money payments by pointing out that hes not under oath.
MSNBC even made a supercut of Giuliani tripping over himself while trying to clear the president.

Why would Giuliani try to rationalize collusion when the president has repeatedly insisted that no such collusion exists? Why would he say its OK for the president to have known that WikiLeaks was getting ready to release hacked emails provided by Russia, which was actively trying to install Trump in the White House? Why would he try to downplay the president of the United States lying to the American people? It isnt because he knows the president is innocent.

To play devil's advocate for a moment I imagine defending Trump is hard enough as to stress most people out.

(29,098 posts)I've seen him in action for years and currently the man is a walking cry for help and seems beaten down and terrified... I don't feel sorry for him but his weaselly involvement in this is just weird. He and Trump have run in the same circles for years and he has always been a bit of an attention hound...But he should know better that the crap he is spewing in the media is just insane and indefensible. He's always been a jerk but he was never an idiot. One day we will find out what they have on him and there will be pictures. I'm sure Pecker has a file on him.

(3,426 posts)As an attorney he has been toast for a very long time. He does not have a small army of legal beagle's doing all the work and at his age he can't keep it all compartmentalized in his head, so he leaks from time to time. What he is, is Trump's legal PR guy. He lies to the public for Trump. It all makes him feel relevant again. When he over steps his Trump boundaries , when he becomes a believer in his own PR, sees himself as a real caliber Trump lawyer ,defender and guardian of the Trump's, under the bus he will go !
He will become irrelevant again.
