The second question is yes he will get lifetime SS protection no matter what happens. Congress can't change laws through the impeachment process.

We are in unchartered waters here. There is no precedent to follow. We've never had a president who won the White House with the assistance of a foreign government, and continues to be beholden to that foreign government since taking office.

Negotiating with a hostile government to prevent action that would have helped their opponent.

I seem to recall crooked televangeist Jim Bakker was held there for a while.

If not the Rochester one, something similar - but it would be fun to seen Mr New York Real Estates shipped to the midwest.

There's an empty, for-profit in western Minnesota that closed several year ago and he could be moved there (really I don't want him in the state, but we seem to have facilities for him.) Some irony in handing to a for profit group.

Or, given his love of destroying national monuments, he could go to Alcatraz. I would have no objection if the Park Service continued to give tours of it while he was there.

but it's off into uncharted territory. I suppose if one were to go there in blind sight, the answer may be hidden within the question.
You have (in prison resulting from conviction odiously (lol)( secret service) and impeached or removed. Protective custody could amount to residential confinement under secret service supervision. That's just a wild guess ,I mean there is a lot to consider in that particular question. And when you go there it begs the question about the legitimacy of his having been elected and the legitimate powers thereof.

Kind of like a prosecuting attorney having prosecuted many cases and secured many convictions some of which are proven to be fraudulent ,so a crooked ,corrupt self serving sob.

Now every case the sob prosecuted goes into review -and so the revolving door swings.

See where it takes you? What if he's not really the president, than what ?

After his term, Congress limited SS protection for future former Presidents to ten years. GWB is set to lose his (unless Trump extends it, as Obama did for Cheney) on January 20th.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Former_Presidents_Act#History

Before 1958, the U.S. federal government provided no pension or other retirement benefits to former United States presidents. Andrew Carnegie offered to endow a US$25,000 annual pension for former Chief Executives in 1912, but congressmen questioned the propriety of such a private pension. That prompted legislation to provide benefits to former presidents.[1]

When the Former Presidents Act took effect, there were two living former presidents: Herbert Hoover and Harry S. Truman. Dwight D. Eisenhower was the first president to fall under the act upon leaving office.

The original act provided for lifetime Secret Service protection for former presidents. In 1997, it was reduced to 10 years for presidents taking office after 1997. The 1997 amendment was reverted by the Former Presidents Protection Act of 2012 (Pub.L. 112–257).[2] All living former presidents and their spouses after Dwight D. Eisenhower are now entitled to receive lifetime Secret Service protection.[3]
