General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIs it at all possible that Flynn's deal preceeded his Turkey revelations?
Could his deal have been granted based largely on, for example, his Russian involvement, and that only later did the details emerge about Turkey?
Otherwise, I am having a very difficult time understanding how Flynn skates without jail time, considering his Turkish involvement.
Unless the bigger fish is Pence, it just makes no sense to me.
Please let it be Pence.

(3,433 posts)and that it was intended that Pence would eventually become president. Don't fogent , it was Manefort who pushed for Pence. It would all make sense that Trump was just some sort of a Patsy.

There could be multiple big fish. Pence, Jr., Jared, Trump . . . .
I'm sure letting Flynn "skate" will prove to be worth it.

(537 posts)Even that article claims that it wasn't the Turkish government itself that was paying Flynn (which, surprise, it was)
I'm pretty sure that the details that came out today we're not known by us in 2017.

(108,980 posts)Remember that Obama warned Trump that it wouldn't be a good idea to hire Flynn.
In any case, there isn't a bright line between working for the Turkish government and "representing the interests of the Turkish government" by taking money from a wealthy backer of that government.

(537 posts)Frankly, I haven't been following the Flynn story much; so tonight's Maddow was an eye-opener for me. It infuriated me. The hubris!
One thing got me very concerned though: apparently it was Flynn's election day 2016 NYT Op-Ed that drew scrutiny from the IC. If true, I have to wonder. Same way I wonder how Trump's lifetime of criminal activity is just now really getting the attention of law enforcement.
