Mattis's resignation letter is brutal

Good lord. A long tirade of things that every sane person believes (like "we should support our allies" and "we should seek to resist our adversaries" ).

Then this,

Because you have a right to a Secretary of Defense whose views are better aligned with yours on these and other subjects, I believe it is right for me to step down from my position.

And then, the masterpiece:

I very much appreciate the opportunity to serve the nation and our men and women in uniform

And a signature with no salutation.

That is how a general says "fuck you". I've never seen a resignation letter that left the President and his administration out of that last sentence.
