"Mattis knew what he was getting when he signed up to work for Trump."

Mattis knew what he was getting when he signed up to work for Trump. He spent two years at his side, ignoring all the shit that Trump's done at home and abroad.

Sorry, he shouldn't get to play martyr or victim or principled opponent now. Though the media will help him do so...

No matter, he agreed to work for Trump, Trump has been off the rails since day one. He stayed and kept his mouth shut. Saying he worked for the American people in his resignation letter means nothing to me. YMMV. No. He doesn't get to play martyr or victim or principled opponent now AFAIC.

no longer an adult in the room anymore.

We owe him a debt of gratitude for sticking in there. He was on our side not trumps. I know people who know him professionally and he will be sorely missed.

Read his resignation letter.

to try and be a voice of reason, he tried hard but finally threw in the towel. I'm glad he was there and sorry he felt he had to leave.
