Most of us here thrilled to the PELOSI meeting, where she told him he didn't have the votes in the House and if he thought he did to put it to a vote. Fine. Then his wingnut goons riled him up with taunts against him and somebody assured him he really did have the votes, hence the appearance of his taking up PELOSI's gauntlet and coming off as still the Champ of the Goons.
Remember the WELLSTONE memorial service? A detail missing from the Wiki description below is that when some of Repuke politicians made their entrance to present at least the appearance of paying their respects, the crowd booed. It was a natural reaction of grief, yes revenge, but it had the effect of consolidating the Opposition. Stepping on one's ****.
I don't credit SHITLER, or Stephen MILLER and whomever other goons, with the conscious smarts to have plotted this out - i.e., planning the meeting with the press where the gauntlet would be thrown down - but all of us having witnessed how the wingnuts have pilloried PELOSI and Hillary in the past, this is just a sample of what to expect. In the '08 election, HANNITY was frenzied, berzerk, and raving about his vision of the coming monstrosity of PELOSI as Speaker. The bonfire will be piled totally higher now, HANNITY as the mad monk calling down a Crusade .

From Wiki, Paul WELLSTONE: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Wellstone .... The memorial service for Wellstone and the other victims of the crash was held in Williams Arena at the University of Minnesota and was broadcast live on national TV.[39] The lengthy service was dotted with political speeches, open advocacy on political issues, and a giant beach ball batted around the crowd in the style of a beach party. Many high-profile politicians attended the memorial, including former President Bill Clinton, former Vice President Al Gore, and more than half of the U.S. Senate. The White House offered to send Vice President Dick Cheney to the service, but the Wellstone family declined.[40]
Some criticized the service for having an inappropriate tone[41][42] and resembling a "pep rally"[43] or "partisan foot-stomp".[44] Wellstone campaign manager Jeff Blodgett noted after the event that it had not been scripted and apologized to people who were offended or surprised.[41] In his book Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, comedian, liberal political commentator, and former United States Senator Al Franken wrote that "reasonable people of good will were genuinely offended" but argued that conservative media figures had exploited outrage at the event for political gain.
Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura, who had stated his preference to appoint a Democrat to serve out the remainder of Wellstone's term through January 2003, was "disgusted"[41] by the event, walking out and later threatening to appoint "an ordinary citizen" instead.[45] On November 4, the day before the election, Ventura appointed state planning commissioner Dean Barkley, founder and chair of Ventura's Independence Party of Minnesota, to complete the remaining two months of Wellstone's term; he had run against Wellstone in 1996.[46] Coleman received 49.5 percent of the vote to defeat Mondale and win Wellstone's seat. ... ....

(28,078 posts)There were some, but scattered and not a lot of the crowd participated. It was all overblown by the right wing. Including one local commentator who claimed that the crowd was being told when to applaud or cheer on the screens scattered around Williams Arena. Apparently she had never heard of closed captioning.

(70,695 posts)totally dirty fighting and how PELOSI has been battered in the past and will be even more now. I knew I would get some flak, but please don't let it turn into a personal flaming. I don't expect to be a DU celebrity, but should be known enough to be a true Blue.

It took him days and a lot of GOPer shaming of the GOP House members for it to get passed.
