Tonight, I asked Scott Perry (R-Pa.) about effect of fed employees being furloughed. He argued it had no real impact since employees eventually get paid back.

Then compared the shutdown to a private company, specifically like GM, closing.

"Why are government employees so sacrosanct? Private sector employees deal with this all the time... The government’s not immune to these things."

2. There are many contractors who have to stop work without getting paid, or use leave
3. Progress across agencies stops. Deadlines will be missed, many incurring costs.

i was tapped out when i first started, and could easily have gone homeless the first year or 2 as a government employee. the secretaries in my office were low on the gs scale and had kids. i doubt they would be overjoyed at stretching it to the next pay day.

congresscritters are overpaid and always poor mouthing about the expense of 2 homes etc.
