General Discussion

Wes Clark was asked about Trump's week and Mattis' leaving. After some talking with the others (which included Jason Johnson, Clark said Trump governs like some guy sitting at a bar in Brooklyn, saying he doesn't like the immigrants coming into the country and some other guy at the bar saying "Yeah. Shut down the border and send 'em all back where they came from."
Howard said you can't govern so simplistically. Wiley said Trump tries to. Melber asked Clark if he meant a bar in Queens since that's where Trump is from. Clark says his wife's from Brooklyn, hence the fictional setting for the metaphoric bar.
They were all having too much fun while at the same time making serious political commentary.
It was a very enjoyable conversation!
I was glad to see Wes Clark, who is always the smartest guy in the room and a general this old Swabbie would follow anywhere! Back when Clark was running for president, we met him at a Capitol Hill townhouse for a fundraiser. At one point there was a quick bit of banter about trying to march but being out of step. He was making a point and asked what you call a group that marches out of step. I said, General, I was in the Navy. That group would be sailors. He laughed and forgot the point he was making.
Anyway, if they rerun Melber's show, try to catch that segment. Its was really a good one.

(51,611 posts)which he has been his whole life. He really is a common mob boss (he loves that persona) and wants to be up there with other mob bosses like Putin, MBS, etc.
I love Clark too. He always impressed me and still does.
