Trump Posts Twitter Video Hours Before Shutdown Deadline: 'The Shutdown Hopefully Will Not Last Long

by Josh Feldman | Dec 21st, 2018, 10:20 pm

President Donald Trump shared yet another Twitter video tonight, mere hours before the government shutdown midnight deadline.

Trump opens the video by calling for “border security,” spliced with video footage, declaring they need “a wall or a slat fence or whatever you want to call it, but we need a great barrier.” And the onus, he says, is now on the Democrats.

“We’re going to have a shutdown,” the President continues. “There’s nothing we can do about that because we need the Democrats to give us their votes. Call it a Democrat shutdown, call it whatever you want.”

Last week Trump said he would own a shutdown and now he’s blaming the Democrats in a 180 so blatant that Fox News called him out for it.

“The shutdown, hopefully, will not last long,” the President adds.
