(16,180 posts)Always slant it as if them Dems are to blame, or weak, or uncompromising.
The republicans want to rename the United States Trumperlamd...
-> will the democrats be obstructionists on such a simple name change?
Trump has begun locking up all 5-year olds with red hair
-> why didnt the democrats see this coming and pass a law against it ten years ago?
Ryan admits he failed in his goal of dismantling social security
-> (crickets)
McConnell, Ryan and Trump hold country hostage to get $5B to buy steel (Wilbur? Wilbur?)
-> Trump just wants to fulfilll a campaign promise.

(6,363 posts)...put a full, airtight DACA plan on the table and I'd start to think about budging. $5billion isn't going to actually build anything. Letting these kids get back to their lives without wondering who's going to knock on the door in the middle of the night...yeah, I'd be thinking deal.
Gotta be airtight. None of this "we'll bring it up in the next session" so we give him the wall money today and tomorrow he says "what DACA deal".
Not sure how that would workout there has to be a way.

(7,850 posts)I live on the border...we don't need a wall or slats or whatever...we need money spent on infrastructure, and education, and healthcare...DACA yes, but billions of dollars and taxpayer money on trump's toy...no

(6,363 posts)And I don't have your border experience.
But if you've got a thousand bucks cash in your pocket and I ask you if you'll spend a penny to get DACA...would you do it ? I would. Especially when you know that that penny isn't really going to impact their bullchit anti-immigration policy either way.
That's the value of this 5 billion relative to the total federal budget in 2018.
And I agree with you that we need money spent on all those things. And I'd add that there's more than a few dollars savings available in the defense budget that should be redirected to better causes.
We have to shift priorities, there's no question about that. Respectfully, however, I don't see that happening while we're sitting at the table trying to hash out a deal. IMHO, priorities change in big long cycles. We're in a tactical negotiation at this point and, at least for my penny (spent a long way from the border), I'd get this DACA thing behind us.
Not because it's more important than infrastructure, education and healthcare....but because it's achievable in the moment without giving up on shifting priorities.

(7,850 posts)why is the an either/or? ... it's not even an "and"...it's DACA period...it's medicare for all period...it's upgrading our infrastructure period.. never ever slats, chainlink fence period...I know politics is about compromise but this is billions and billions of taxpayer money thrown at a narcissistic little boy sociopath so he'll stop jumping up and down and throwing his food.

(53,787 posts)Earlier this week he was set to sign the bill to keep the government fully open but the Ann Coulters, Rush Limpbutts and Steven Millers of the world started criticizing him so he changed his stupid mind.
At least in 12 days we'll be in power in the House and will be in a stronger position to blunt him. And we're still waiting for Mueller's report which could force a resignation, maybe even of Pence too as the VP was notified by letter by Rep. Cummings of Flynn's lies but denied knowing of Flynn's activities.

(25,111 posts)Kornacki likes to side with the GOPers. Wait for it, Republicans will of course blame the Democrats.
Unless, ummmm, Republicans are starting to see the writing on the wall, the writing that they have ignored.

(4,609 posts)I don't want to hear, especially from asshole Kornacki, about Democrats "not budging". Republicans' record on obstruction and "not budging" is epic, evil and constantly textbook "low road". Time for bigtime Democratic payback.

(24,229 posts)Reminder there has been no offer of anything to win over Democrats votes
Nothing about DACA nothing about dreamers nothing about not separating families at the border nothing has been offered for Democrat votes just an insistence that they vote for Donald Trumps whims
