We have a negative immigration from Mexico (more people leaving than coming) and we can handle those who come in.
They are not a problem for us. There are issues to deal with, like asylum and what to do with long time undocumented immigrants. But these are bigger problems for those people than for the country as a whole.
Compared to Healthcare, Infrastructure and Climate Change it is a low priority.
So let's stop acting as if "boarder security" is something we have to work on. Our boarders are secure now.

It is just not the MAJOR problem we are facing. It really shouldn't register above a dozen other problems we deal with.

I'm talking about a 20 year wait in line to process an application for legal migration to the US, sponsored by a relative. What the wingnuts call chain migration.

(33,587 posts)there are issues, and they mainly affect the immigrants rather than us here. They can and should be dealt with. But none of them rise to the level of national emergency that Trump has made them.
