Ever hear of El Monte, CA? Frisco, TX? Thornton, CO? Olathe, KS? Warren, MI?

Those are all cities with populations greater than the total number of Iowa voters in the Republican caucus yesterday.

Our system is bonkers when we have that few People setting the political agenda for the rest of the Country.

They don't always set it. Or Hucksterbee would have been the 2008 nominee. TwilightGardener Jan 2012 #2

Somebody has to be first, and it really doesn't matter that it's Iowa, because the amount of money the candidates spend there helps their economy quite a bit and makes them cornhuskers feel important every 4 years in the process anyway.

Now it's New Hampshire's turn, and they get the tv camera crews for a week.

way to force politicians to get out there and deal with actual voters. Not saying it should always be Iowa and NH but the first should be small states where politicians have to do more than ad buy.
