(3,473 posts)and how we're snatching defeat instead of building upon a solid foundation. I still think most of it are Russians and CONservatives, but I know there does exist a small faction that would rather lose it all than take incremental steps.

(31,235 posts)It's devious, but the two you mentioned by name are obviously used to further divide us. How many other members of Congress, who haven't even been sworn in yet, do we hear about at DU? The incessant threads about AOC are clearly meant to get a reaction. Once they realize those threads won't get the reaction they intended, it'll stop.

(21,577 posts)I don't really get why everything she does or says garners and immediate thread here. She hasn't even been sworn in yet!!!!!!!
I like her just fine. she's clearly a bulldog for progressives and climate action, and she doesn't take shit from anyone. Good for her!
but this is Washington DC and the sort of implication i keep getting from these discussions is "AOC wants to do this progressive thing we should like, and all the other Democrats didn't immediately fall in line." So i guess we should be angry at them? or angry at her for pushing them? IDK.
How about this... when she is actually SWORN IN, THEN she can propose legislation that goes to committees and votes on the floor if it gets that far. That is the way it works. We don't need all the democrats to jump on board with some idea just because AOC says so.
Like this green new deal....... AOC is pushing it.... and I think we NEED IT, but at the same time I'm not angry that ever Dem isn't lining up behind her without any kind of bill actually being put before the house first.

(145,321 posts)I do not care what she wants or care about her positions. She is a baby congressperson with no power. She can express her views and I am free to totally ignore theses views. AOC may want to try to accomplish something in Congress if she want people to care about her views.

(45,107 posts)She can express her views and we are free to post and discuss them. You can ignore them to your hearts content no one will ever force you to open a thread about her, Bernie or any politician and post in them.
The admins have given us valuable tools to make our DU experience to our liking. I've recently started using ignore and trash thread. I find it cleans up my time at DU significantly.
It's strange what amuses different people, I find it amuses me when people complain about a subject because they don't care about that subject yet always have an opinion about that subject.

(145,321 posts)I do not take her seriously and I think that she is hurting her chances of being an effective member of the House of Representatives with her stunts. A baby member of Congress needs to work with the party if they want to have an impact on a long term basis. I have been amused by OAC's stunts but I have a feeling that these stunts will limit her effectiveness in the House. It has been noted that sanders has had no significant legislative accomplishments. I hope that AOC does not try to match sanders' record.
You are welcome to consider AOC's stunts as being effective. Time will tell

(12,448 posts)All Gothmog said was that he was amused by AOC. He didn't call her names, he didn't say she shouldn't be in Congress, he simply said he was amused because she's an inexperienced Congresswoman who maybe should listen and learn for once. I don't think he needs a lecture from you on how to use DU.

(277 posts)Condescending attitudes toward a Democrat isnt a good look in general. Condescending attitudes toward a young Democratic woman of color isnt a good look in particular. You might want to think about that.

(297,322 posts)they've hated on her for years.. but she's persevered and had a big part in making the Huge Blue Wave Happen.
So does Hillary, Adam Schiff and all the Reps who have been doing the excellent job of working on the Russian Investigation.
President Obama especially gets the rw's stupid goats.. there's even this idiot on the left.. trying to smear BETO with President Obama. Clueless moron.
